Scarlet and The Keepers of Light Review

About: Scarlet and the Keepers of Light is a children’s fiction novel written by Brandon Charles West. It was published on 10/22/2014 by Manor Minor Press. This book is the first in a Scarlet Hopewell series of 3 books. I’m not sure if there is more to this series. The second book is called Scarlet and the Dragon’s Burden and the third book is called Scarlet and the Queen of the New World. The author is a firefighter and paramedics and has daughters of his own, a resemblance to the dad of Scarlet in this book.

My Experience: I started reading this book on 3/18/15 and finished reading it on 3/26/15. The story is interesting. It’s a children’s book with adult supervisions. Unlike Harry Potter, where children sneaked around on their own to explore by themselves; however, in this book, Scarlet is often by her dad’s side, supervised and protected by more than one elders. Luckily, she does makes her own decisions sometimes and that’s when the story becomes less irritating with adults and their meddling. This book is an easy reading. Superpower from within. I don’t quite like the ending so much because it ends in the middle of another adventure to find the dragon. I know this way of ending should make the reader wanting more, but now I know that if I read another book, that book will have an ending in the middle of a new adventure.

Pros: positive attitude, family love, father’s protection of daughter’s safety, travel between worlds, superpowers

Cons: adult supervisions, ending at the start of the new adventure

I rate it 4 stars!
