Happy Friday! Hi Everyone! Here is a book I am looking forward to read and it is called The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee. I have found 4 covers for this book. It’s almost hard to decide which one I like best, but I would have to say I like the third one (bottom of first column or first from second row). I like the font and being on top of the world. The synopsis sounds so interesting. I plan to read it in September. I was given an ARC through Edelweiss and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to read it. Many thanks to the author Katharine McGee, publisher Harper Collins, and Edelweiss!
Synopsis:
New York City as you’ve never seen it before. A thousand-story tower stretching into the sky. A glittering vision of the future, where anything is possible—if you want it enough.
Welcome to Manhattan, 2118.
A hundred years in the future, New York is a city of innovation and dreams. But people never change: everyone here wants something…and everyone has something to lose.
Leda Cole’s flawless exterior belies a secret addiction—to a drug she never should have tried and a boy she never should have touched.
Eris Dodd-Radson’s beautiful, carefree life falls to pieces when a heartbreaking betrayal tears her family apart.
Rylin Myers’s job on one of the highest floors sweeps her into a world—and a romance—she never imagined…but will her new life cost Rylin her old one?
Watt Bakradi is a tech genius with a secret: he knows everything about everyone. But when he’s hired to spy by an upper-floor girl, he finds himself caught up in a complicated web of lies.
And living above everyone else on the thousandth floor is Avery Fuller, the girl genetically designed to be perfect. The girl who seems to have it all—yet is tormented by the one thing she can never have.
Debut author Katharine McGee has created a breathtakingly original series filled with high-tech luxury and futuristic glamour, where the impossible feels just within reach. But in this world, the higher you go, the farther there is to fall….
About the Author:
Katharine McGee
Katharine McGee is from Houston, Texas. She studied English and French literature at Princeton and has an MBA from Stanford. It was during her years living in a second-floor apartment in New York City that she kept daydreaming about skyscrapers . . . and then she started writing. The Thousandth Floor is her first novel.
xoxo,
Jasmine
I also like the one you chose the best but I noticed that the second one is the one I’ve seen the most, especially on twitter.

Yes, I think the black with gold lettering is what they ended up using.

Congrats on scoring an ARC for this one! It’s one of my most highly anticipated reads. I’ve already planned my trip to Barnes & Noble this Tuesday just for this book, I agree it’s a bit late now to get an arc for this title 😦
P.S. that black & gold cover is my fave, very posh! 😉

What’s your name on Edelweiss. I would like to add you on my friend list. I can’t find you on TeacherofYA’s friend list. I don’t think there is a friend list to find even. I have conflicting feelings with that black & gold cover hehe..

Awesome! I’m sitting here trying to figure out where I can view my own shelves as I’m currently adding my reviews. Would you happen to know? lol

TeacherofYA said there’s a way to import your reviews from Goodreads over. I tried but it doesn’t work so I just manually add it in. I tried to search myself so that I can see how I am displayed but it comes up empty. I go to Reviews to see what I have added. Drop down menu at Written by: you can choose to see your friends name. Under Review Copies then Requests, you can see your pending, approved, or rejected. I go to Community but can only see your and TeacherofYA’s shelves but can’t see mine.

Same here, thank you! I found the review tab and have also been manually entering my reviews. The anticipation for a yay or a nay on arc is killer 😂😂😂

Yup!😂 You don’t have to add so many reviews. I got approved for 3 books without any reviews added. I think it’s based on your comments when you request the book. They ask for your reason why you want it.

Oh nice! That’s awesome! & strangely comforting since I spent quite some time on my comments haha! I think this may work out better than NetGalley in a sense because u get to tell them why & they get a sense of your writing style. Whelp, the wait is on 🙂

Did it take a few weeks for the approvals?

It varies. I requested Disruption in the morning then got accepted in the afternoon. Thousandth Floor requested on 8/16/16 and approved on 8/23/16. Wrecked requested on 8/10/16 approved on 8/16/16.

I kinda like the first and second covers!
I am so excited for you! I feel so happy that I could show you the site, and then you can get really cool galleys! You write awesome reviews, so I know if you like it, then I will too.
You’ve gotta tell me all about this one! 😘

I’m glad to have met you. You are very generous with your knowledge. I also like to do the same. This book publishes end of this month though so you might be right about them not giving it out anymore.

I’m glad to have met you, too! I wish we lived near each other because I would totally hang out with you and get coffee and talk books all day!!

That would be awesome haha as I am friendless in this new city. I have moved around a bit.

Aww, I’m sorry. I am too. I lived in AZ most of my life, and now that I’m in MI I don’t have many friends…most I had were through my boyfriend, and when he dumped me I lost contact with many of them.
But luckily I have you guys and my books!!

I know…I just found out this morning? Or late last night? I don’t even remember how I did it…I kept tapping things until an upload box came up…but it won’t let me crop my pic so it’s all out of proportion.
I can’t wait until they release that new site! It’s supposed to be so much easier and look like NetGalley.

How do you get books through Edelweiss? I’m very interested. I use NetGalley but would like to discover other sites that you can get ARC’s from too.

I learned of Edelweiss through TeacherofYA’s blog. Here is the link: http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com and you can sign up for a username & password. There is a community on there where we can add each other as friends. I have only been on there less than 2 weeks so I haven’t had it all figured out. It’s not as user friendly as NetGalley but they do have some of the same titles as NetGalley. Me too. I like to join different places for ARCs. I love to have so many choices of books to read 😊

I just signed up for Edelweiss. Thank you!! How do you add friends, do you know?

Go to community, find friends. Search for Stephanie Plotkin, Jasmine Ye and I’m not sure about the other two. I haven’t able to see TeacherofYA’s friend list yet.

You can’t see my friends list? Maybe I can’t see yours either…well, Jillian is on there but she found me, and so did LairofBooks…so I don’t know the real names to put in. Aren’t you friends with Jillian from RantandRaveAboutBooks?

I click on Suggest Friends under your name and Jillian and LairofBooks came up. I able to add them that way.

Oh, ok, well that works, too. Has Megan added you yet?
Btw, Overdrive just put out The Thousandth Floor as a request title, so I hurried and put it on hold…I’m the first person on the list! I must’ve timed it just right! They must have just added it to the library! So when I get it, we could do a buddy read if you want?

Yes! That should be fun!

As Jasmine says, it’s hit or miss. Because this book comes out next week, I don’t think they’ll be approving any more galleys for this title…but there are lots of titles on there!
RantandRaveAboutBooks, Jasmine, and LairofBooks are all friends on there. We figure the bigger our friend community, the better!
You’re always welcome to join us!!
I’m so excited for Jasmine: she’s really looking forward to this book, and I’m looking forward to her review!!
