May 2020 Wrap-Up with zest #wrapup #readingwrapup #monthlywrapup #bookworm

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are doing well. I’m currently on vacation to Florida visiting family. Not so lucky because weather forecast to rain all day and all week.

In May, I read a few excellent middle grade books. I started out with The Phantom Twin. From the same publisher, First Second, I found my library had Best Friends, a memoir by Shannon Hale to read and it was fantastic. I wish I had that book when I was in 5th grade. Best Friends was actually a follow up to Real Friends. My son read both and I recommended my sister-in-law to get it for my niece. Then a fellow Instagrammer introduced me to Roller Girl and I loved it. My 8 year old son read it 4 times! I also read a two books in one, Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball and Amelia Fang and the Unicorn of Glitteropolis, a giveaway win. Since my son’s reading, I wanted to introduce him other books so I read Con Quest! and it was interesting. A whole new world of comic con I know nothing about.

I started reading A Game of Thrones in April and finished it in May. As I was reading it, I found out my library has a graphic novel for it, part 1 of it and I stopped to read. I loved both the graphic novel and the original book. I had the book, The Arrangement for a long time and was mad at myself for not reading it sooner because it was excellent! I loved the secret life of madam and high paying escorts.

In May, I participated in two read alongs: Circe and Cormoran Strike series. Circe has a new paperback release. I have yet to finished reading book 1 of Cormoran Strike so I will talk more about it next month. I also read one nonfiction called All Boys Aren’t Blue and it was interesting.

I have never attended a book con or comic con or any cons for that matter. So when Fierce Reads hosted a Zoom Meeting to meet Marissa Meyer and Shannon Hale, I joined. Shannon’s memoir Real Friends and Best Friends are must reads! You already know Marissa’s Lunar Chronicles and Renegades series. She’s coming out with a new book: Instant Karma!

In May I had an accident, falling down on the cement floor from riding my son’s scooter. It hurts so bad! Still healing and hurting even today, some 3 weeks later. Yeah, might as well take the opportunity to get a book picture with my injury lol.

So that’s my May 2020. How was yours?
