Reading Year 2020 in Review

Hi Everyone!

Happy New Year! 2021 is here! Whoa! A new decade and I’m happy to be around to see it.

Last year I challenged myself to read 100 books and I met my goal with some help by reading picture books to my daughter, otherwise, I have reviewed 71 books on my blog. I’m actually proud of my accomplishments in year 2020. I read and reviewed books as I used to but I ventured into cookbooks, cocktail book, and making unboxing videos with my appearances on camera. I didn’t planned on it that’s for sure haha.

In 2021, I’m challenging myself the same with reading and cooking as well as unboxing videos. I hope I can be an influencer more than just reviewing books like some other bookstagrammers who offered coupon codes to different shopping sites or subscription boxes. I’m also thinking of having my own website at some point but I’m worried of the transition. It’s bound to happen sooner or later as the free space may run out.

I love seeing past reading challenges. On my blog, I review less books than what the challenges indicates here. I don’t review picture books I own.

For a complete list of books I have read, visit my Goodreads page via the link in my About Me page. Otherwise, pictured above and below are my favorite 30+ books I have read in 2020. No particular order really. I would read them all again if I have time! The cookbooks, I’m still cooking them in the new year.

Below has got to be my best bookmail ever! Read all about it Here!

One best unboxing video in terms of the number of views: Here. All of my videos were recorded by my son when he was 8 and turning 9 years old. I’m glad he likes to help!

My interests has been expanding and I’m finding I have less and less time to do everything I want. I wish I have time to watch more movies and adult coloring and even knitting. I learned knitting at a library group one year back in 2008 and loved it, but I can’t knit and watch TV at the same time. I finished watching all of 6 seasons of The 100. I have only read the first 2 books of the series and hope to reread the series in the new year. I see season 7 is now available. I finally saw The Hunger Games movie. It was good but I prefer the books more. I haven’t gotten into adult coloring yet but when I’m at an arts & crafts store, my eyes linger on those books and coloring pencils. I recently discovered planners with pretty stickers to go along with it and I’m in love but that’s another time consuming activity that I will probably wait on until my kids move out for college haha..

2020 has ups and downs for me. The ups are apparently my presences in the book community. I have gotten publishers’ attention with my reviews and book pictures. The down side was when I was sick so bad at the beginning of the year around March and had to be hospitalized. It was a scary time. I wrote about it Here.

I think that’s all I want to talk about 2020. Yes, there’s that COVID-19, Black Lives Matter, Protests, biggest turnout of voters in US Presidential Election history, and I’m just glad that my family, friends, and I are safe through this tough times.

Happy Reading Everyone! Please stay safe and take care!

xoxo, Jasmine
