Synopsis from Macmillan Publishers:
In his debut picture book Sock on the Loose, author-illustrator Conor McGlauflin takes you on a fun, sock-filled, adventure about finding yourself and discovering your way back home.
Socks come in twos,
snuggled up in your shoes.
At night they sleep tight,
matching pairs in a row.
Until—wait a minute!—oh no!
Where did Blue Sock go?…
After its twin doesn’t come back from the wash, Blue Sock decides it wants to explore the great big world outside its drawer. Just like you, there are so many things a sock can do when given the chance to try something new!

My Experience: I started reading Sock on the Loose to my 18 months old daughter on 2/22/2021 and finished it in one sitting. It was a fantastic read! I loved the illustrations and how colorful it was. As I read, I pointed out the colors to teach my daughter. I loved the rhymes! The sock’s actions and adventures were excellent! Mismatch socks happened in our household too so this book is definitely a needed addition on our bookshelf. I can see we are going to be reading this book every night for bedtime. In fact, we are reading it now and have already read it a few times!
Sock on the Loose followed the story of a blue sock. It was happy sleeping next to its other half but one day it wandered away and found itself exploring the world and doing different things. It explored watermelon cave, rode on hot air balloon, splashed around with seals, and etc. After all the fun and freedom, it began to miss its other half and started the journey home.
Sock on the Loose was an amazing book! All of us experienced mismatch socks so we can all relate. I loved that the blue sock was encouraged to explore. In this review are few of my favorite pages (though I didn’t do it justice because I took them at night). Readers will see how the blue sock was not afraid when it ventured away from its comfort zone next to its pair but continued on and forward with open arms. As young readers read, they will feel encouraged to go out and explore too. They also see that when they go out, they will see and meet many new friends just like the blue sock. The best thing of all was that the blue sock can always come home just as kids are welcome home after a day out. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
