Little Free Library Tour #littlefreelibrary #unhaul #donatedbooks #bookworm

Hi Everyone!

I’m so intrigued by these little free libraries, don’t you? I learned of its existence through other bookworms on Instagram. My first encounter of it in person was during a trip to Memphis, TN few years ago. This little free library was located at a park. Then last year, I happened to drive by one and was so excited by the sight of it. I didn’t realize my city would have these little libraries! A fellow bookstagrammer told me to visit https://littlefreelibrary.org and search by zip code to find more. As soon as Covid slowed and many people are vaccinated, I decided to go on a tour.

This past weekend I took my son to 5 different little free libraries where one of them happened to be the one I ran into before. I brought 18 books with me to donate. I have read and reviewed all 18 of these books on my blog: Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball, Amelia Fang and the Unicorn of Glitteropolis, Whisper Network, Hairpin Bridge, Getaway, I Know Who You Are, Orpheus Girl, The Furies, Dark and Deepest Red, Your Life is Mine, Max Einstein: Rebel with a Cause, The Haunted Serpent, The Story Web, One of a Kind, Warriors: Skyclan and the Stranger, Curls, Pepper Page, Quidditch Through the Ages, and The Forbidden Power. See pictures below of the books and 4 pictures of the little libraries plus the one above. From Instagram, you will see there are some unique ones but these ones we visited all looked pretty simple.

We got 12 books from the 5 different little libraries to read! I’m so excited for these books. My son got Miss Kraft is Daft, Going to Hell in a Hen’s Basket, Junie B. Jones is Almost a Flower Girl, Ralph S. Mouse, and Matilda. My choices were Can You Keep a Secret?, The Half-Drowned King, Silent Thunder, Dangerous Minds, Animal Farm, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for the Peculiar Children. I’m currently reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer for my daughter’s sleep time and enjoyed it a lot. Some books I have recognized the title and the author but others I haven’t. I’m excited to read one of my son’s book which is Matilda.

I loved this Little Free Library Tour that I did with my son. I’m hoping to read as many as I can and go on another tour to another zip code. My son already finished reading Matilda and Gutman’s book. He’s currently reading Ralph S. Mouse. I’m happy that he’s making the most from our trip. A new motivation to get him to read. I love this concept of exchanging books. Why donate to Goodwill and then buy it back from other donors when I can share my read books to other readers and they do the same for me! I love Little Free Libraries! Check out my other visits Here and Here.

Let me know if you have done the same adventures as me.

xoxo,

Jasmine

aww thats so cute! Thank you for bringing us onto that journey – there was quite some nice books in there. Also such a fun thing to do with your children xx

We used to have one at work, though because of covid, we had to remove it :[ I had placed a few books in there and kept checking if someone picked it up ahah ..

I’m surprised that needed to be removed during covid since libraries were closed so the little libraries were even more dependable. Has it been put back now that everyone are back at work? That’s cool that you have one at work!

It was more so people wouldn’t « spread » it around touching everything — we had to put our things where they couldnt reach for them, being the only ones to put milk/cream/honey/etc in their coffees. (They do very much reach for them anyway 🤦🏽‍♀️ despite the plexiglass and everything)

Noo, sadly it hasnt been back yet :/ potentially in august, as that’s when our supposedly « back to green phase » should be..
