My Experience: I started reading and listening to an audiobook for As Good As Dead on 12/16/2021 and finished it on 12/27/2021. I loved the start of the book and the connection to book 1. I’m not sure which direction book 3 was going to take and I didn’t attempt to guess. Pip was so strong in book 1 & 2 that I didn’t expect her to fall apart in book 3. Sometimes I wonder how some characters can function on so little sleep. Whenever I’m lacked of sleep, I get intense headache the next day. I liked the idea of the serial killer but it would have been more thrilling if readers had an anonymous’ view for a few chapters to explain the reasons for the killing. There were explanations but not enough. It doesn’t make sense to kill because the victims failed to listen. There would be a lot of people to kill then because people have their own mind and they like to make their own decisions. The read however was fast paced and the audiobook was excellent.

This book started with Pip and her dad as they leave for the train station to go into the city to meet with a lawyer. Pip needed a lawyer to defend for her because someone sued her for defamation. Pip refused to the demands and wanted to go forward to court. At the same time, she’s falling apart inside because of what happened in book 2. She felt she’s responsible for bringing the victim to the killer. The killer is on the run while his wife turned herself in. Pip harbored some secrets from her family and boyfriend Ravi. She believed she needed another case to help herself heal. Then the case presented itself. She was being stalked. She didn’t know it at first until it escalated. Yet again, the police didn’t believe her and didn’t solve the stalking problem. She worked it out but she was napped by the killer before she figured out who it was. During capture, she was able to escape her bindings but instead of escaping from the killer, she waited for him/her to come back and attack him/her. Now Pippa’s in deep trouble. She couldn’t plead self defense if she call the police. Can she get away with murder and maybe frame someone for that kill?

As Good As Dead was a good combination of book 1 and 2 where there was some investigations and some podcasts. I feel bad that Pippa was battling with some wars of her own. She has a lot of people who cares for her and she should have let them help her instead of retreating into herself like a turtle. I can understand the reason for the ending but I still don’t like it. Ravi is smart and she should have allowed Ravi to help her find solutions instead of being so controlling and making all of the decisions by herself even when Ravi disagreed. There was one part where Pip was caught in a jam by the police and I was literally hyperventilating because I didn’t know if she could get out of it. The unexpected walk-through to the title of book 1 in this story was actually awesome. I loved this series and I will read all future books by this author with no hesitation. I highly recommend everyone to read this series!

I rate it 4.5 stars!
